A statue of traditional muay boraan, the predecessor of Thai kickboxing which is locally known as muay thai (fig.).

Instead of contemporary boxing shorts (fig.), early the contestants wore a pah nung, which was brought up and fold between the legs to the back, where it was stuck behind the belt (fig.).
