In Thai, ants are known as mot. This photograph, taken in Bangkok, shows ghost ants — both the smaller ants, with a pale, translucent abdomen, and the larger workers, with faint dark stripes — as well as their larvae, called khai mot in Thai, which literally means ‘ant eggs’.
