Mani stones are flat stones that have mantras, especially the sacred mantra Aum mani padma hum (fig.), written on them.

They are piled up and are considered very holy, hence they should never be picked up or collected. Besides mantras, here are stones depicting Wisdom Eyes (fig.) and even a yak (fig.).
