  khanom gui chai

Thailand

Chinese leek flower dumplings (fig.), in Thai known as khanom gui chai, are made from rice powder. The pink dough is pressed into a flat, pear-shaped form of which the top is slightly bent, somewhat reminiscent of the shape of a T-Bone Steak.

This trademark feature makes them stand out from other dumplings, and most shops use their own mold with a customized pattern, Chinese character, or logo on it, which is hence pressed onto the dumpling during manufacturing.
