An adult female Short-billed Minivet, which was spotted near Lumbini in southern Nepal, where it is a scarce resident.

Whereas adult males have a black head, black upperparts and scarlet underparts, females are grey above, with a yellow face, rump and underparts. In addition, the forehead, tail and long wings also have patches of yellow.

It is similar to the female Scarlet Minivet, but lacks the yellow patch on the secondaries and has a shorter bill.
