Bundled ears of rice are often used as decoration, both literally, like the yellow-golden ears seen here, as well as in iconography (fig.). In Myanmar, however, itinerant vendors (fig.) sell similar ears of rice, with the intent for them to be offered to the birds as a form of merit making (fig.).
