  Wat Rong Khun Ganesha Shrine

Thailand

In the back of the premises of Wat Rong Khun (fig.) in Chiang Rai a huge shrine in honour of the popular Hindu god Ganesha, also referred to as Ekatanta (fig.), has been added.

The golden shrine, built on a small island in a pond, houses a large bronze image of this deity cast after a sculpture (fig.) by the artist Chaleumchai Khositphiphat (fig.), a design that also features on two Thai postage stamps issued in 2013.
