  Thammasat 60th Anniversary Plaza

The current paifang-style (fig.), white, memorial wall and archway at the Thammasat University 60th Anniversary Plaza on the University's  Tha Phrachan Campus (fig.), located along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.

 

The middle section of the watchtower-like walled gate has battlements similar to the bai sema (fig.) of a crenellated city wall and refer to the base of the ancient city wall built in the reign of King Rama I, that was discovered underneath (fig.) the adjacent 60th Anniversary Building during restoration works in 1997.
