Wat That Noi (วัดธาตุน้อย)

Name of a Buddhist temple in Nakhon Sri Thammarat built in 1961 on a 46 rai plot of land donated in 1944 by the local benefactor Nai Klab Ngam Phrom (กลับ งามพร้อม - fig.) to the venerated monk Father Than Khlai (ท่านคล้าย - fig.). After the monk's demise on 5 December 1970 at the age of 96, the temple became a memorial in this Buddhist monk and teacher's honour. Besides several statues of this highly respected monk, the temple also houses his glass coffin and a memorial chedi, as well as a large reclining Buddha image, whilst at the entrance is a statue of the temple's initial supporter, Mr. Klab Ngam Phrom. The temple is located along a railway and has its own train station, which is named Poh Than Khlai Railway Station (fig.) and has also been dedicated to Than Khlai, featuring a statue of the venerated monk seated in a chair with his right hand held up in a blessing attitude and under which worshippers will take place to receive merit when they come to pray and pay their respects. The station consist of a wooden sala-style pavilion and is flanked by two large statues of elephants, one in silver, the other in gold, akin to the silver and gold trees that indicate loyalty.
