Surasvati, otherwise known as Sarasvati and Surasvati Devi, is the Hindu goddess of arts and learning, and the consort of Brahma (fig.), whom ‒like here‒ is usually depicted playing the veena, i.e. a sitar-like (fig.) stringed instrument.
