Buddha statue at
Wat Ratchanaddah.
In 1846, this bronze statue was moved from the
Grand Palace
to the temple. During the ceremonial procession,
Chao Phraya
Yommaraat,
overseeing the temple’s construction, was tragically
crushed when a sudden tug on the ropes shifted the
statue’s shackle. Though he survived for over a month,
he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
