  Settatthammunin Buddha

Thailand

The Settatthammunin Buddha statue at Wat Ratchanaddah. In 1846, this bronze statue was moved from the Grand Palace to the temple. During the ceremonial procession, Chao Phraya Yommaraat, overseeing the temple’s construction, was tragically crushed when a sudden tug on the ropes shifted the statue’s shackle. Though he survived for over a month, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
