Ceramic pottery from Sawankhalok was exported all over Asia during the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya periods, and was in China known as ‘Sangkalok’, a mis-pronunciation of Sawankhalok.

A typical characteristic of Sangkalok is the tattoo-like paintings on its sculptures.
