The Saigon Central Post
Office (fig.)
was his final work and is widely regarded as his
greatest. The building's construction started in 1886 AD
and was completed in 1891, and despite maintenance and
renovations has kept its original 19th century French
colonial touch, though some features, such as the statue
of the Greek messenger goddess Iris that once stood in
the main lobby, has been removed. |
