Excretes pederin, a highly irritating toxin that can cause severe blistering of the skin!

Thailand

The Rove Beetle, known in Indonesia as the Tomcat Beetle, and nicknamed the Dragon Bug due to its potent effects, is called duang kon kradok in Thai, meaning ‘tilted-ass beetle’, a reference to its distinctive raised posterior.

This Asian species, scientifically known as Paederus fuscipes, produces haemolymph containing paederin—a potent toxin released when the beetle is crushed against the skin. This toxin can cause severe blistering and irritation.
