The escutcheon of
Phuket
shows the two sisters
Chan and
Muk who were later bestowed with the titles
thao
Thep Krasatri and thao
Sri Sunthon. In 1785
they were able to safeguard Phuket and the South of the island against Burmese invasion
and are since known as the
Phuket Heroines
(fig.).
