 Subject:

1. Dillenia obovata, known in Thai as dok saan yai (ดอกส้านใหญ่), dok saan tong (ดอกส้านต้อง), dok saan khaeng (ดอกส้านแข็ง) and cha-wing (ชะวิง); 2. Melastoma malabathricum, Melastoma sanguineum, known in Thai as dok mang khre chang (ดอกมังเคร่ช้าง), dok bre chang (ดอกเบร้ช้าง), dok meri chang (ดอกเมรีช้าง), dok mang khre khon (ดอกมังเคร่ขน), dok ka-du-du (ดอกกะดูดุ) and dok khlohng khleng chang (ดอกโคลงเคลงช้าง), with the latter name literally meaning ‘wobbly elephant. It is strongly resembles and is related to the Singapore Rhododendron (Melastoma malabathricum); 3. Commelina diffusa, commonly known as the Climbing Dayflower and Spreading Dayflower, and known in Thai as dok phak plaab (ดอกผักปลาบ); 4. Plumbago indica, commonly known as Indian Leadwort and Scarlet Leadwort, and in Thai as jet moon phleung daeng (เจตมูลเพลิงแดง), dok pit piw daeng (ดอกปิดปิวแดง) and dok fai tai din (ดอกไฟใต้ดิน), the latter which may be translated as ‘underground (or southern soil) fire flower’.
