  Maha Bandula

Bronze statue of  Burmese general Maha Bandula, who was commander-in-chief of the Royal Burmese Armed Forces from 1821 AD until 1825 AD. He was a key figure in the Konbaung Dynasty's policy of expansionism in Manipur and Assam, which eventually resulted in war.

 

Maha Bandula was a brilliant strategist and showed his remarkable generalship in the the First Anglo-Burmese War (1824-1826 AD), in which he was killed by a mortar shell on 1 April 1825 AD.
