Tai Sui (太岁)

Chinese god of the year. Name of any of the Sixty Heavenly Generals, who assist the Jade Emperor in his task to guard the mortal world, each of them taking turn to be in charge for a year according to the Ganzhi and who in turn, descend to earth to serve and protect the people who pray to these gods for security and tranquility. This system follows the principle of the 60 Years Cycle of the Chinese Zodiac, and each deity is named after the combinations of the Ten Celestial and the Twelve Terrestrial Branches, according to Chinese Calendar. The Tai Sui are individually known by the name Jiazi Tai Sui, Yichou Tai Sui, Bingyin Tai Sui, Dingmao Tai Sui, Wuchen Tai Sui, Jisi Tai Sui, Gengwu Tai Sui,  Xinwei Tai Sui, Renshen Tai Sui, Guiyou Tai Sui, Jiaxu Tai Sui, Yihai Tai Sui, Bingzi Tai Sui, Dingchou Tai Sui, Wuyin Tai Sui, Jimao Tai Sui, Gengchen Tai Sui, Xinsi Tai Sui,  Renwu Tai Sui, Guiwei Tai Sui, Jiashen Tai Sui, Yiyou Tai Sui, Bingxu Tai Sui, Dinghai Tai Sui, Wuzi Tai Sui, Jichou Tai Sui, Gengyin Tai Sui, Xinmao Tai Sui, Renchen Tai Sui,  Guisi Tai Sui, Jiawu Tai Sui, Yiwei Tai Sui, Bingshen Tai Sui, Dingyou Tai Sui, Wuxu Tai Sui, Jihai Tai Sui, Gengzi Tai Sui, Xinchou Tai Sui, Renyin Tai Sui, Guimao Tai Sui, Jiachen Tai Sui, Yisi Tai Sui, Bingwu Tai Sui, Dingwei Tai Sui,  Wushen Tai Sui, Jiyou Tai Sui, Gengxu Tai Sui, Xinhai Tai Sui, Renzi Tai Sui, Guichou Tai Sui, Jiayin Tai Sui, Yimao Tai Sui, Bingchen Tai Sui, Dingsi Tai Sui, Wuwu Tai Sui, Jiwei Tai Sui, Gengshen Tai Sui, Xinyou Tai Sui, Renxu Tai Sui, and Guihai Tai Sui. In Thai, they are together referred to as Thai Suay Ihya Gong (ไท้ส่วยเอี๊ยกง). In 2013, Thailand Post issued a set of three Thai postage stamps, with an illustration of the Jade Emperor (fig.), while in addition to this, it also published a set of sixty personalized i-Stamps depicting the Sixty Heavenly Generals (fig.).
