Blue-faced Malkoha

Common name for an up to about 40 centimeters large bird, with the scientific designation Phaenicophaeus viridirostris, which is found in Southeast Asia and on the Indian subcontinent, including in Sri Lanka. It is mostly very dark, almost blackish green, with a black face and a thick pale blue eye-ring, whilst the belly is somewhat lighter green. The undertail is blackish-green edged with white, and the bill is greyish-green. In the shade, such as underneath the forest canopy, this bird may appear to be all black rather than dark green.
