Female Hoolock Gibbons are pale brown, with darker fur at the belly, throat and sides of the head, white eyebrows and white rings around the eyes and around the mouth.

Those white rims make the face somewhat reminiscent to that of the Black-handed Gibbon (fig.), though the Hoolock Gibbon has shorter facial hair.
