Subject: King Bhumipon Adunyadet dressed in a pink blazer and making pictures with his camera. The overall pink background, as well as the colour of the blazer express the wish for a long life in good health, since royal astrologers in 2007 determined it was a good colour for the King's health when he was being treated for heart problems and other ailments, a declaration that prompted the King to start wearing a pink shirt and blazer in public, which in turn sparked a pink shirt craze among his subjects. The camera refers to the King's passion for photography and has been his vade mecum wherever he goes, which can be seen in so many portraits of the King, at least when not in uniform or ceremonial dress, cf. portraits (1), (2), (3), (4), etc.
