These kingfishers are commonly found in Singapore
(fig.),
where
they are
known to
dive
noisily
on any
flocks
of
mynas
that are
feeding
within
its
breeding
territory,
thus
insuring
that
insect
food
meant
for its
offspring
is not
poached.
These
birds
have
pale,
greenish-blue
upperparts,
white underparts,
a white
collar,
and a broad
black eyestripe,
as well
as a
buff to
whitish
loral
supercilium. |
