Besides the commonly found
attitude of reclining Buddha images, in
which the Buddha is holding his right hand underneath his head (fig.),
there are at least two other varieties. In
the attitude above, the Buddha's right arm is held in front of his chest, with
the hand pointing towards his left elbow. This pose is known as pahng proht
Supattha and refers to the preaching of his last sermon, to a disciple named
Supattha.
