A male Blue Moon Butterfly, spotted in Sri Satchanalai. Above, its wings are blackish with three pairs of whitish spots with a purplish-blue iridescence.

Two of those spots, one larger and one smaller, are on each forewing, whilst a single spot is on each of the hind wings, which are edged with a series of small whitish dots and bars. In addition, the outer edges of the upperside of both wings are scattered with tiny whitish dots.

This one and the one in the photo above, were both photographed in Chiang Mai. This species is also known as the Great Eggfly or Common Eggfly.
