  Ban Lao Khun Man Monastery

Thailand

Ban Lao Khun Man Monastery in Roi Et is a forest temple also known as Wat Pah Chalermraht, i.e. ‘Forest Temple Honouring the King’. indicating that the temple was named as an act of merit dedicated to the monarchy, a practice common in modern Thai religious culture.

The monastery follows the wat pah tradition, which emphasises meditative practice, ascetic discipline, and strict observance of the Vinaya, i.e. the monastic code. It is set within a natural woodland and is accessed via a naga-bridge (fig.) that is over 100 metres long.
