on horseback are found on public squares in towns and cities throughout
Myanmar
(fig.),
with this one being erected in
Bago.
According to the rules of
equestrian iconography
this statue was erected after 19
July 1947, the date on which the
General (fig.) was killed, as the horse
is depicted with one front leg up, which
suggests that
its rider has already died.
