  Asian Giant Hornet

Thailand

The Asian Giant Hornet is the world's largest hornet. Adults can reach up to 5 centimeters in length with a wingspan of approximately 7.5 cm, featuring a yellow-orange head, large black compound eyes, dark brown or black thorax, and an abdomen striped with orange and black.

While their sting is painful and potentially dangerous to humans, their larvae and pupae are considered a delicacy in some cultures, including Thailand. Locals harvest them carefully using traditional methods, preparing the larvae by frying, steaming, or cooking them in curries.
