Amber Fort
The Amber Fort in Amer, located on top of a hill, in the vicinity of the city of Jaipur.
The complex was built in red sandstone, while marble was used in some places, such as important halls and inner courts.
The ancient citadel was built in 1592 by Mirja Raja Jai Singh I, with later additions made by Sawai Jai Singh I.
It was used as a residence by the Rajput Maharadjas and their families.
Visitors to the fort are given an option to be driven up the hill with either an open jeep or on an elephant's back.
