The Akha swing festival is celebrated by singing and swinging in the rice harvest. Usually every Akha village has its own swing (fig.).

For the annual occasion, the villagers generally dress in their traditional attire, but the Akha women and girls swop their usual helmet-like headdresses (fig.) for more practical scarves.
