This large image of the Sakyamuni Buddha at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (fig.) in Xi'an is seated in the lotus position, while performing an uttarabodhi mudra, i.e. the gesture of Supreme Enlightenment, in which the hands are put together with the thumbs and fingers placed over each other, and with the index fingers extended and pointing upward, and touching at the tips.
