Inside its thick rind the passionfruit, the fruit of the vine Passiflora eduli, has a rather slimy fruit of flesh, which sits around multiple dark-coloured seeds.

 

When immature, its skin is green, when ripe it is reddish brown. When still immature it is best eaten with a teaspoon and its sweet and sour taste perks up by adding a little salt.
