  mahk ruk (international setting)

Thailand

A heavy antique chessboard made from teak wood and with 64 squares, though without alternating colours, while the chessmen are lacquered in green and red. It originally comes from Myanmar, and can be used for both international chess (fig.) and its local variant, known as Thai chess and in Myanmar as sittuyin. In Thai, both varieties are referred to as mahk ruk.
