  maeng mao

Thailand

A large swarm of winged termites attracted by a light. In Thai, they are known as maeng mao, meaning ‘drunken insects’, as they seem to be completely disorientated and once they have dropped onto the floor, they act even more so, going around in circles, as if they are drunk.
