The Supreme Patriarchs of Thailand in the Reign of King Rama IX: 1. Somdet Phrasangkaraat Chao Krom Luang Chinwaralongkorn (Jinavaralongkorn - ชินวราลงกรณ), the 18th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand (fig.), appointed to the position in 1974, in the reign of King Bhumipon Adunyadet. In the top right corner is his cypher (fig.), i.e. his initials underneath a multi-layered parasol, called chattra (fig.). To his side is a stand holding his monastic fan of rank, known as a pad yot or talapat, that reflects his highest ecclesiastical peer; and 2. Somdet Phrasangkaraat Chao Krom Luang Wachira Yannasangwon (Nyanasamvara), the 19th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, appointed to the position in 1989 by King Bhumipon Adunyadet. In the top right corner is his cipher, i.e. the initials (ญ.ส.ส.) underneath a multi-layered parasol, known as a chattra. To his side is a stand holding his elaborate ecclesiastical fan of rank, known as a pad yot, that reflects his high samanasak.
