Song bah dahn is the Thai name for a species of cassia, which in is English known as Scrambled Egg Tree.

 

This tree bears bright yellow flowers with five petals, and blooms in cycles year-round. Its fruit consists of a flat, elongated pod, which is between 7 and 10 centimeters long, and about 1 to 1.5 centimeters wide. Below, the pod has a straight base with rounded edges and a short, yet very thin, needle-like, protruding pointed tip in the middle.

This species is also known as Glaucous Cassia, a name that derives from Greek and refers to the bluish-grey waxy coating on the surface of the tapering, egg-shaped leaves, which in Thai is referred to as nuan.
