  Thai-Laotian border Mae Khong

Laos

The Laotian border at Done Xao along the Mae Khong River (fig.) near the Golden Triangle. The blue band in the Laotian national flag at this makeshift border control post is said to represent the Mae Khong River and the white disc in its center the full moon reflecting in it.

The red bands on either side symbolize the blood of the people and thus the flag represents the unity of the people and a bright future.
