  Blister Beetle

A Blister Beetle, spotted near Bac Ha in northern Vietnam. The reddish-orange bands and spots on this otherwise black beetle are are believed to be aposematic signals, i.e. a warning colouration to deter would-be predators. See also List of Thai Insect Names.
