Thailand

A pomace or vinegar fly, commonly referred to as fruit fly and in Thai known as malaeng wih. It is brownish in colour with distinctive red eyes.

These flies tend to linger around overripe or rotting fruit and may be found in the compost bin, yet they cause no direct damage, but can be a nuisance when present in large numbers.
