  hok kwai

Thailand

A domesticated buffalo in Mae Hong Son province, wearing a hok kwai, the name for a wooden bell, with the word kwai, meaning water buffalo.

This bell has a cylindrical shape and is flanked by two wooden clappers. When the animal moves around, the bell makes a warm, somewhat muffled sound.
