  Wat Chedi Jed Yod

Thailand

Wat Chedi Jed Yod in Chiang Mai is one of the most important sanctuaries of northern Thailand and is also known by the name Wat Photharam Maha Wihaan (fig.).

It was built in 1455 by the royal command of King Tilokarat XI, the then monarch of the Lan Na Kingdom. The main temple building with seven stupas is a replica of the Maha Bodhi Temple (fig.) at Bodh Gaya in India.
