PREVIOUS BIRD NEXT BIRD Thailand

Two Rusty-cheeked Hornbills at the Pata Zoo (fig.) in Bangkok. This species is also commonly known as Brown Hornbill or Tickell's Brown Hornbill (fig.).

This medium-sized hornbill is about 60–65 cm in length. It eats by picking up its food with the tip of its beak, which it then throws up in the air and catches again with an open bill, before swallowing it.
