  Boriphat (Thai-made bomber aircraft)

A Boriphat bomber aircraft on display at the Royal Thai Air Force Museum (fig.). It was designed and built by the Royal Siamese Air Force in 1927.

 

it is modeled after the French-made Breguet 14 biplane bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, which in the 1920's was license-built by the Siamese at Don Meuang, and fitted with Renault engines.

When prices for the original engines soared, the search to fit the Breguet 14s with alternative engines led to a test bed aircraft being built to try out the replacement engines, which in  turn led to the birth of the Boriphat.
