  Phraya Surin Phakdi Monument

The Phraya Surin Phakdi Sri Narong Changwang (Pum) Monument in the city center of Surin.

 

It commemorates a local resident, who presented a White Elephant to the royal court in Thonburi, and was consequently bestowed with the royal title Luang Surin Phakdi. When the city was renamed in 1786, it was named after him (fig.).
