Thailand

Petrified wood is the name for a rare form of fossilization in which wood or an entire tree has been turned completely into stone.

This happens due to a process known as petrifaction, in which all the organic materials are being replaced with minerals, whilst the original structure of the wood is being retained.

A collection of this fossilized wood can be observed at the Northeastern Museum of Petrified Wood and Mineral Resources, located in the Isaan province of Nakhon Ratchasima.
