  Lao Boc (Lao Noi)

A woman of the Lao people in Vietnam, an ethnic minority group which is also referred to a Lao Boc and Lao Noi. Their language belongs to the Tay-Thai Group of languages and Lao folklore is heavily influenced by Thai culture. Women wear black skirts with colourful embroidery and which come up to their chests.

 

At the bottom of their jackets, which are also richly embroidered, there are two long, flat, woven bands in different colours, that hang over the skirt. They also wear a black turban-like headdress decorated with colourful pins and pom-poms.
