  Danu man

Myanmar

A young Danu man residing in one of the mountainous villages around Pindaya, with thanaka on his face. Most Danu people today no longer wear their traditional costume on a daily basis (fig.), saving it for special occasions, and wear Burmese costume instead. Their houses, though now made of more durable materials, are still fashioned in the traditional way, with an indoor area for cooking on the floor, using kindling.
