Loei shows the
stupa
Phrathat Sri Song Rak (fig.),
which was constructed between 1560 and 1563 AD to commemorate
the friendship
between the Siamese King
Mahachakraphat
of
Krung Sri
Ayutthaya
and King Chaiya Chetthathirath of
Krung Sri Sattanah Khonhut
(Vientiane)
and ruler of the Laotian kingdom
Lan Chang, as well as
to demarcate the
border
between the two kingdoms.
