  Dusit Maha Prasat (Chinese warriors)

Thailand

Dusit Maha Prasat, the Throne and Audience Hall located within the compound of the Grand Palace in Bangkok, is surrounded by stone sculptures of Chinese warriors.

Though none are the same, they all look similar, wearing general's uniforms, having long beards, holding a kind of long weapon in one hand, while keeping the other one near their side, with a bent arm.

These heavy granite statues are very similar to those found at Wat Poh (fig.), and are said to have been brought from China as ballast to weigh down the otherwise empty ships.
