Thailand

The Thai architectural term for the triangular decorative element on roof corners is phi seua, which translates as ‘butterfly’, and relates to its symmetrical design.

It is found on temple roofs, as well as on Reuan Thai, traditional wooden houses. As can be seen from the two examples here, the design is not always the same.
