Nok insih is a general Thai name for birds of prey, of which there are many different species, such as the falconida and accipitridae, including also the eagle. This picture shows me with a Red-backed sea-eagle (fig.), also known as a Brahminy Kite.

 

They are a common sight at the bay of Pang Nga, where they come close to humans, to feed on the leftovers from the many fish restaurants that are thrown in the sea. See also List of Thai Animal Names.
